Funding destruction of the Amazon and the Cerrado-savannah: A Fair Finance Guide Netherlands case study on deforestation risks in soy and beef supply chains
The Amazon region and the Cerrado in Brazil are global hotspots when it comes to tropical deforestation. The main drivers of this deforestation are soy and livestock farming. This report by Profundo, commissioned by the Fair Finance Guide, Hivos and Both ENDS, charts how 21 banks, insurers and pension funds active in the Dutch market are involved in soy and beef-driven deforestation in these regions. The report also shows how these companies deal with this and provides recommendations for improvement.
