FfD Side Event - Reforms to the international financial architecture for sustainable development: from theory to practice. Organised by the Ministry of Finance in Argentina. Registration here

Reforming the IFA is more relevant than ever. The main initiatives on the matter include proposals to enhance the existing collective action clauses (CACs), plans to establish a hard law or statutory framework to resolve sovereign debt crises, and suggestions to resort to a soft law, incremental approach to sovereign debt restructuring.
This side event will discuss all three approaches, addressing their strengths and weaknesses and concrete tasks there are to perform. As such, it seeks to complement the official programme of the Forum on debt-related issues, and to provide additional space for discussing substantive matters of the Financing for Development agenda in greater detail.
