In the context of the NGO CSW66, we are glad to invite you to register to the event A Feminist and Decolonial View on Debt and Climate Change.

Gender justice is intertwined with climate justice, even more when looked at from a decolonial perspective. Developed countries have a historical debt to the world in terms of their carbon emissions, and yet they insist on not undertaking their fair share of climate finance. Furthermore, almost 75% of climate finance comes in the form of debt, preying on disaster and on the most impacted countries from the Global South, especially the Small Islands Developing States and the Least Developed Countries. We’ll hear from feminist experts on real solutions and how solidarity across social movements is key to promote system change.

Una visión feminista y decolonial sobre la deuda y el cambio climático

La justicia de género está entrelazada con la justicia climática, más aún cuando se mira desde una perspectiva decolonial. Los países desarrollados tienen una deuda histórica con el mundo en términos de sus emisiones de carbono y, sin embargo, insisten en no asumir la parte que les corresponde de la financiación climática. Además, casi el 75 % de la financiación climática se presenta en forma de deuda, que se aprovecha de los desastres y de los países más afectados del Sur Global, especialmente los Pequeños Estados Insulares en Desarrollo y los Países Menos Desarrollados. Escucharemos a expertas feministas sobre soluciones reales y cómo la solidaridad entre los movimientos sociales es clave para promover el cambio de sistema.
