UPDATE: Policy timeline on climate finance relevant events

Dear all,

The UNFCCC Bureau has released an updated timeline of work ahead of COP26. Available here: https://unfccc.int/calendar/events-list and a longer overview here: https://unfccc.int/process-and-meetings/conferences/road-to-glasgow-consultations-and-other-activities-by-the-presiding-officers

Of note:

  • 23 March: This year's Ministerial on Climate Action (MoCA) will take place, which was expected to take place in June, as is usual. With the climate and development ministerial (CDM) on March 31st, I will be focusing my efforts on the CDM. Will anyone be focusing on MoCA this year?
  • June: Biennial high-level ministerial dialogue (HLMD) on Climate Finance
  • June: Partnering for Green Growth & the Global Goals (P4G) summit (TBD)
  • November: Article 9.5 of Paris Agreement ministerial dialogue in 2021 (Art. 9.5. refers to the request that developed countries communicate what climate finance support they will provide to developing countries, including projected climate finance).

I've updated the Eurodad climate policy timeline for 2021 with these new dates and some others: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xHv5c9xvGctIu1KwOw9dFdrr_8cElicL0F1Fm1mNTz4/edit#gid=48842329

Also of note, from 15 Jun - 24 Jul 2020, the UNFCCC will run a 6 week course on the Paris Agreement and its links to the SDGs. More details can be found at this link: https://www.unssc.org/courses/paris-agreement-climate-change-development-agenda-2/
Speakers include UN institutions, IGOs and CSOs.

Best regards,
